My Cancer My Choices Gala Dinner

Voke Flooring and Interiors Limited were delighted to be able to sponsor the My Cancer My Choices gala dinner held at The Hilton Hotel on Kennet Island on the 7th January 2023.

The evening was hosted and compared by Philip and tickets were sold out. We are extremely grateful to the French Horn Hotel and Restaurant in Sonning, Jacobs the Jewellers of Reading, St. Josephs College, and to many other people who supported us by taking a table for the evening.

Everybody’s generosity allowed us to raise £27,000 for this very worthwhile local charity.

Due to the success of this event we are proposing to hold another one on 6th January 2024. Please contact us if you would be interested in taking a table at that event.

French Horn Exterior Refurbishment

Have you been wondering why the traffic has been slower through Sonning recently?

Following on from our refurbishment of their three restaurants last year, we are very pleased and honoured to be working in partnership with The French Horn in renovating and decorating the outside of their premises. We have a long association with The French Horn and they have been working very hard preparing for the re-opening of their hotel and restaurant after the present lockdown.

We have tried to lessen the intrusion of the scaffolding into the road as much as possible, and we apologise for any inconvenience the scaffolding may cause to road users. Be assured, you will be delighted with the end result which will go some way to brightening your journey when we finish later in the summer.

Should you have any questions or enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact Philip Voke on 0118 957 6337.

F1 in Schools sponsorship

2019 marks the third year we have supported St Joseph’s College in the F1 in Schools competition. As a major sponsor to the school team, we wish them every success in their entry - this year is a particularly exciting one as it’s an all female team after two years of all male teams. The Reading Chronicle covered the story of their success so far, triumphing in the regional heats to compete in the National Final - we can only hope they go all the way to the finals in Singapore!

F1 in Schools is a wonderful programme, encouraging study in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) related subjects. By setting a challenge using the allure of such a powerful sport, enthusiasm from school pupils in taking part is high. The challenge is open to pupils aged 9 to 19 and they are invited to use CAD/CAM software to collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test and race miniature compressed air powered cars. The challenge inspires students to use IT to learn about physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacture, branding, graphics, sponsorship, marketing, leadership/teamwork, media skills and financial strategy, and apply them in a practical, imaginative, competitive and exciting way. Philip Voke of Voke Interiors commented “I have always been extremely impressed with the teams and how they work together and promoted themselves. The exciting part is they could land up going to the World’s in Singapore where I guess their sponsor would have to go with them.”

Sage Reading Half Marathon sponsorship

We provided sponsorship to a particularly worthy competitor in the Sage Reading Half Marathon on Sunday. George Wickington ran his first half marathon for The CALMzone - an important charity offering help and support for men with mental health issues. Recording an impressive time of 1 hour 53 minutes, he smashed his initial fundraising target of £250 by raising well in excess of £1000.

If you’d like to sponsor George for his sterling efforts, please visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/george-wickington

My Cancer My Choices charity bike ride support

On Sunday 19th May 2019, a Charity Fun Bike Ride was held in aid of My Cancer My Choices. Philip Voke and the team from Voke Flooring and Interiors supported the event with two vans, helping to repair any bike damage or assist those with injuries.

My Cancer My Choices is a local Berkshire charity who provide complementary therapies to people during cancer treatment. Right from the difficult and uncertain time of diagnosis, they aim to support people with treatments to alleviate the side effects of traditional cancer treatment as well as helping them cope with the overall situation. They’ve helped over 700 people since the charity was founded, all thanks to volunteers and generous donors. If you wish to support this event, please visit the fundraising page.

In 2022, after being postponed for the last two years the bike ride is being ‘recycled’ and will be held on Sunday 12 June 2022. We will once again be supporting this wonderful event. Please consider taking part as many charities, including this one have suffered terribly through the pandemic.
